Dan Mandelbaum, a New Jersey native currently residing somewhere, is a tried and true champion of the analog. Hand-made and hand-carved, these labor intensive works manifest his hand-drawn aesthetic in polished limestone and other rocks, and they root his practice in the millennia long human desire to create life out of stone.

Dan Mandelbaum has long worked in various sculptural media, creating an abundant, fertile universe of happy, anthropomorphic creatures, fresh from the primordial ectoplasm of his peculiar imagination. While studying at Pratt (BFA 2016) and residing in Ridgewood, Queens, Mandelbaum worked in wood, concrete, ceramic, drawing and fabric. With his shift to labor-intensive stonework, his oeuvre has become indelibly entrenched within most ancient art traditions. His impulsive, exuberant touch is now elevated by the sheen of earthy color and texture.
