Lindsey Rome

Lindsey Rome's work is drawn to the interplay of line, color, and form. Following a recent autism diagnosis, she now understands her three ongoing, related bodies of work to be as therapeutic as they are creative.

The dense, labor-intensive STIM abstractions are built through deep, sustained attention. The all-over swarms of interconnected bodies, faces, and anthropomorphic forms in the Milagros series are informed by a recent immersion in Jungian psychology, including archetypes, the collective unconscious, dream analysis, and active imagination. Both impulses are combined with a soft, washed aesthetic in the third series, titled Mazing. Throughout, her compositions hum with rhythm and density.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Lindsey Rome received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York. She currently lives and works in Nashville, TN.
